We hope that you will take a look at us - the United Kingdom based FRIENDLY SOCIETY OF ARTISTS.The FRIENDLY SOCIETY OF ARTISTS comprises a very friendly group of both amateur and professional, UNITED KINGDOM ARTISTS, who share a love of painting outdoors, in a variety of media - watercolour, pastels, oils, acrylics etc. Do you enjoy painting, but feel alone in the pursuit of your interest? Throughout the British Isles there are painters who once felt that way. Now they enjoy newly formed friendships after joining the FRIENDLY SOCIETY OF ARTISTS. The society was formed when a group of like-minded people decided that it would be nice to keep in touch. As the FRIENDLY SOCIETY OF ARTISTS developed so did the newsletter, into a 36 page publication, sent out quarterly to members. In addition to the newsletter, Christmas cards, Birthday cards, and sometimes, unfortunately, Get-well cards are sent out to members. Painting meetings, annual exhibitions, and 3 annual 5 day painting breaks in Scarborough, Somerset, and The Lake District are arranged for members. The 2 day exhibition allows members to exhibit 10 framed and 8 mounted paintings, with no commission taken, for a fee of £10. Each member receives a list of 'painting pals', which sometimes brings together members who are within 'striking distance'. A members badge is available with brooch-pin fastener. Two centimetres in diameter, with gold lettering on blue background. On the 1st Monday in every month (except Bank Holidays, when it moves to the 2nd Monday) members within 'striking distance' of Clumber Park meet to paint 'en plein air'. Our annual exhibition takes place mid-August at Castleton in Derbyshire. Annual membership subscription of the FRIENDLY SOCIETY OF ARTISTS is £12, with the badge£5.50 if required.
